Where to Stay on Kauai: Poipu Beach House

  1. Poipu Beach House is a perfectly located 3BR/2BA house in Poipu, on the South Shore of Kaua’i. This vacation rental starts at $535 per night.
  2. Why stay at Poipu Beach House? We found our happy place the minute we set foot inside the front door. Let’s just say I could live on the entry lanai of this home–natural light floods this airy space making it the perfect spot to relax at any time of day. Did I mention there’s a giant swinging chair and a day bed that spans the length of the room? I am confident that over half of our staycation was spent in this front room, even our keiki were obsessed with it.
  3. What is the parking situation like? The house has its own private driveway that can accommodate at least two vehicles.
  4. What is the indoor layout like? When you walk through the front door you step into the loveliest screened lanai. From there you enter the living room that opens up to the dining room and kitchen. Bedroom one with a queen bed and an ensuite bathroom is attached to the living room as well. The main hallway runs the length of the house and leads you to bedroom two (one queen bed) and the master bedroom (one king bed with access to the second bathroom). Bonus: There is a sofa bed in the living room with a queen mattress.
  5. What is the outdoor space like? If you enjoy spending time under blue skies and sunshine then this is the house for you! For starters, you get your very own private pool surrounded by a variety of seating and tropical vegetation. Between the pool and the house there’s a picnic table with an umbrella ready for all your family meals. Next, a new lanai runs from outside the living room to the master bedroom, with couple nooks to enjoy your morning coffee or pau hana cocktails. The yard is enormous and well manicured with plenty of room to roam and run plus an outdoor shower to rinse off in after all the fun.

  9. Insider advice: Right behind the house is a paved path that the locals refer to as Banana Patch Lane. Go left and you’ll end up at Kalapaki Joes within a couple minutes, go right and you’ll end up at the Grand Hyatt and Shipwreck’s Beach within 15 minutes.
  10. Fun fact: Just out the front door you can end up at the water in just a few minutes. The rocky area right there is full of tide pools to explore and makes for the perfect place to catch the sunset without the crowds.
