  1. Who would love to experience a lei po’o workshop with The Lei Collective? Anyone who is interested in learning more about the art of making lei! If you enjoy the company of flowers and plants, working with your hands, and immersing yourself in place-based traditions then add this to your Kaua’i bucket list. The Lei Collective workshops are open to folks as young as 8 years old.
  2. What does a lei po’o workshop entail and what does The Lei Collective provide? Each workshop lasts approximately two hours and covers the cultural significance of lei making in Polynesia while providing an opportunity for participants to make their very own lei po’o (Hawaiian style floral crown). The Lei Collective provides the instruction as well as all of the materials needed including scissors, raffia twine, local greenery, and a variety of freshly picked florals.
  3. Where and when do the lei po’o workshops take place? Public workshops are held at local venues all over the island throughout the year. See the current schedule here. Private workshops can be hosted from the comfort of your home or vacation rental, as well as in public spaces such as the beach or a park. Inquire about hosting a private workshop here. All workshops range from $50-$65 per person.
  4. Why should I add this to my Kaua’i bucket list? I recently celebrated my birthday by hosting a lei po’o workshop with the Lei Collective. Lovely Ivory arrived early to set up and prepare the floral spread while I put together charcuterie boards and chilled the champagne. Once guests arrived we began by sharing our intentions for the session, a simple practice that helped ground our workshop in aloha for the art and for each other. From there Ivory shared her mana’o, her knowledge of lei making and guided each of us in the creation of our unique lei po’o. The experience was beautifully organized and fulfilling in so many ways that we cannot wait to do it again!
