Where to Stay on Kauai: The Lime House

  1. The Lime House is a centrally located 4BR/2BA house in Kapa’a, on the East Side of Kaua’i. This vacation rental averages $350 per night.
  2. Why stay at The Lime House? Talk about tropical paradise, this home is straight out of your Hawaiiana dreams. Spacious and full of natural light, island accents and the tunes from the record player complete the experience–you can’t help but embrace a slower and simpler lifestyle here. Next, the location of this rental is fantastic–we walked to the beach each morning and walked to dinner every night. In between the two we kept ourselves busy by exploring a few nearby sights including the Keahua Arboretum and the Hindu Monastery.
  3. What is the parking situation like? The house has its own private driveway and covered carport.
  4. What is the indoor layout like? When you walk through the carport entry door you step into a cozy welcome station. To your right is the kitchen, straight ahead will take you through the living room and the main hallway, then to your left you’ll enter the dining area. The dining area opens up to an entertainment room that leads right back into the living room. Bedroom one with two twin beds and a closet full of nice toys and books is attached to the entertainment room as well. The main hallway runs the length of the house and leads you on to bedroom two (two twin beds), bedrooms three and four (one queen bed each), plus the bathrooms (one with a bathtub and one a shower).
  5. What is the outdoor space like? There’s a large grassy yard on both sides of the house–the backyard includes a lime tree, papayas, and plumeria.
  6. Tell me about the amenities. Standard amenities include: full kitchen stocked with the basics, dishwasher, BBQ, ceiling fans, washer/dryer, Roku tv, wifi, beach supplies (towels, chairs, toys, boogie boards, shade), outdoor shower. Bonus amenities include: amazing air conditioning, keiki books/toys, and a small but mighty record collection.
  7. What’s within a 5-minute walk? Lae Nani Beach, Coconut Marketplace, Eat Healthy Kauai, Streetburger, and Avalon Gastropub among many other eateries.
  8. What’s within a 7-minute drive? The Wailua River, Fern Grotto, Smith’s Tropical Paradise, Sleeping Giant, Keahua Arboretum, the Hindu Monastery, and Kapa’a town.
  9. Insider advice: Inquire with the hosts about renting fun beach props such as a Beach People wagon plus an umbrella and chairs from Business and Pleasure Co.
  10. Fun fact: Not only is this rental owned by a wonderful wedding/elopement photographer, Naomi Wong Photography–rumor has it that another amazing local photographer lives in this neighborhood. Check out Mallory Francks Photography and book a session to document your island adventures!
