Breakfast
Holey Grail in Hanalei serves up organic taro donuts fried in coconut oil. Be warned that they are only open on Sunday mornings so plan accordingly! They are best known for their rotating menu of taro donuts that use unique local ingredients in creative ways, most folks order a “four pack” which is one of each flavor available that particular day. I cannot live without the Penny Lane–banana and taro dough, adaptogenic cookie drizzle, powdered sugar and wildflowers but I’m all about the Chocolate Mylk–cacao, cashews, coconut meat, maple syrup and sea salt. Picnic table seating is available, arrive early or be prepared to wait.
Lunch
Hanalei Bread Co. in Hanalei serves up standard cafe staples. They are best known for the fresh baked goods (and coffee drinks of course) however I cannot live without the Monkey Juice–bananas, almonds, coconut, dates, and milk (non-dairy options available) blended together in perfect harmony.
Dinner
When I find a North Shore dinner option for under $20 worth mentioning I’ll certainly let you know!
