Five Ways To Connect With Your Partner After Kids

1. Understand and  speak each other's  love languages.

If you've never read Gary Chapman's book The Five Love Languages, then I recommend that you both give it a go. It'll give you some insight on how each of you experiences love.

2. Do small things often.

For us this can look like putting toothpaste on each other's toothbrushes, scattering love notes without reason, & lots of hugs from behind.

3. Plan weekly dates.

If escaping to a restaurant dinner without kids every week seems impossible then it's time to get creative. Try a breakfast date? What about a backyard date? Or a hike + picnic?

4. Be intentional with your words.

Use the following phrases often and mean them: thank you, I'm sorry, I love you.

5. Go on annual kid-free getaways.

Whether it's one night or seven, these trips have been non-negotiable for our marriage.

Free of the daily chaos, they allow us to keep finding our way back to each other.
