What: If you’re looking for some Hawaiian culture, some guaranteed interaction with local farm animals, and a whole lot of Aloha then Kaua’i Animal Education Farm is where you’ll want to be. During our visit we had the opportunity to get up close and personal with tortoises, goats, rabbits, chinchillas, pigs, and so much more! The balance between hands-on learning and free-range exploring was perfect. Honestly, it was such a fun morning for all four of our keiki–from our 18 month old to our nearly 10 year old.
Who: This is a non-profit, volunteer-operated organization run by an amazing local family. Their mission is to facilitate an opportunity for the connection between land, animals, and people–to inspire responsibility and stewardship through outdoor education. They love what they do and it shows through all of the hard work they put into the property and into caring for all the animals. The Wong family clearly exemplifies how precious and interconnected all life is.
Where: Kaua’i Animal Education Farm is located on the East Side of Kauai, just 5-10 minutes outside of Kapa’a town. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy under one of their shade tents or pop down to Fish Bar Deli after your visit! The latter features a locally-sourced menu–the perfect way to round out your experience on the farm if you ask me.
Offerings: Please hop onto the Kaua’i Animal Education Farm website to book a tour and to preview their upcoming community events. Be sure to pack a hat and plenty of water for your visit!
